Pinball Machines

There was a pinball machine at the Hells Pizza place that was keeping us entertained. Unfortunatly every now and again the ball would get stuck near the start zone so we would have to tip the machine around to make it come down. Phil gave it a go and the machine said something angry at him with a crackly voice. It was kinda freaky actually.
Oh yeah, Hells Pizza you cheap ass. 2 dollar surcharge? Why don't you just start charging us extra on public holidays as well so the holiday pay of your employees won't affect your dirty profits. Or maybe you could charge us the amount you pay your employees in the first place, so not even their normal pay makes a dent. Sounds like an awesome business model to me.

Wrong Funeral

Yeah, this happened this morning. It was a little disconcerting, and I was a little grumpy I had to get out of bed for it. But it was ok. I like listening to people talk about someones life. Recounting moments etc. Makes me kinda wish I could pay attention during my own funeral. But chances are I'll be off in my own little world.

Sending Mail

I then showed this to Mum 'n Dad. "The thing that really worries me," says Mum "Is did you put a return address on them?"
"....CRAP!"

My only defence is that sending mail is pretty damn archaic, and isn't in the repertoire of a kid in the 21st century.

Sourced from an actual conversation, although I can no longer remember the context.

Well its not often you can inflict the greater public with your movie tastes. But Mercury Energy is beaming a bunch of the latest movies around in parks as like a live event. The final one is viewers choice. One of them is Scott Pilgrim! So help the world by voting for it so we can all see it on a big screen again. Cheers!

Tron / Skating

If you were wondering, yes, I still haven't gotten over Tron: Legacy yet. I got the soundtrack the other day, I think that's whats keeping it at the forefront of my mind. This is also my first doodle I have added spraypaint to. I wonder how many other mediums I can apply to these things.

"What the heck? This isn't a month of friend filled hilarity! This against the rules!.. I think." Actually no it's not. I was asked to make this. Wasn't planning on uploading it, but I couldn't resist. If you liked the music download it here. Wow. This post is colour themed.

H0w 2 mine drawing!?

This actually quite a truthful one. I seriously start every single drawing I do with a circle. I find it easier to find proportions once I have done the face.

I would like to thank Sarah for telling me there is no easy way to do ANYTHING with olives unless they have come preprepared. You should take a gander at her blog sometime, she's doing a picture-a-day*. And she didn't even need me around to pressure her into starting it in the first place! So it really is a coincidence.

Giant Ass Pip

I made pizza today and I discovered the harsh reality of the olive. Seriously. If someone knows what your supposed to do with them leave me a comment. I really am that ignorant.

Here's some more graff.

Anime & Apathy

I have to say this more often than I like. Maybe it's called denial but I call it STFU.
I think my early roots are in anime. I grew up always drawing Trunks from DBZ. But these days I abhor the idea of a million new artists drawing exactly the same, albeit really well in some cases, but exactly the same none the less. Ah each to his own, even if his own is a million other peoples own.

In yesterdays post you may have noticed an image in a frame stating "Where did my future go??" I went ahead and bothered checking around and found out a bit more about this figure.
Apathy has been around a buncha months so far I think. I'm not sure when I started seeing the first apathy stickers appearing on crossings in town. One of them actually managed to sneak into one of my posts a while ago in December.
Anyway, here's Apathies site. It seems as though he wants us to interact with the posters he pastes up, so shit, take a vivid into town with you next time and give him a piece of your mind. The biggest concentration seems to be around Symonds street.

Minds are for Us

First of all, the Marko post was my 200th post to the blog. Woot. Go numbers. This pic is half inspired by the latest Rebel Yell show and the words are from a song I wrote a while ago.

Me 'n Vanilla were checking out the sites today in town. Unfortunatly we forgot the camera but I managed some shots on my phone.

It's spelt "Jandal".

It's true, I did. I totally did. Although it wasn't as dramatic or purposeful as I portrayed it to be in the picture though... Be entertained! The video itself is kinda average, but the song is rockin'.

Marko!

I was originally going to make this a marko polo joke, but then half way through I didn't like that idea. Now I have been informed that this new idea sucks ass.
I sketched the piece and Vanilla Fiction Inked it. I did her sketch. You should totally check it out. Like right now.. All over my face.

Old joke, new punchline

It's one of those social faux pas you really don't want to fall into.

I've finally gotten around to finishing up the December video. Not due to length or anything. I just forgot about it for a while. I would say its the least interesting one so far. I'm sure lots of more interesting things happened in that month, I just wasn't onto it with the camera. I did however make a little something for everyone who likes Keirs face, a wide screen, and a penchant for the colour pink.

Outside is Average

Was listening to Beirut and it was reminding me of the newspaper comic "All Over Coffee".
The weather is looking pretty average outside at the moment so I just decided to wing it. It looked boring so I added a bunch of my characters.

Coopers Beach 2011 pt.2

after the waterhole we went to our seperate places. The girls went to a place called Paradise Bay, a private beach, while the guys went to smalls farm (I think its called, It's definatly not small though.)

We were pointed in the general direction of our campsite and tramped off. We took a wrong turn somewhere and had to cut across a hilloc of pines. We reached our spot to find the 4wd's already there.
We set up our sleeping bags and gathered firewood for the night. We got some decent target practice in before nightfall.
One group of about 6 went out to do some shooting while the other half of us stayed behind. By midnight half of us couldnt be bothered waiting any longer and dug in to sleep. About then the truck arrived back with everyone plus two possums.
One of the kids started swinging one around and dropping it in the fire. You could smell burnt hair in the air. He then started to wave it in Chris's face. He didn't appreciate it to much, his protestations grew considerably until he exploded with what you can see in the doodle. Not a very leader like thing to do, but it cracked me up none the less.
The kids decided killing two possums (Plus a baby possum) wasn't enough, so they went eeling with the carcases. They managed to catch a bunch.
After a while everyone was settling down a little. Well thats a lie. One of the kids was thrashing the high pitched young Reese Darby voice, he did it constantly. It slowly became human static and I faded towards sleeping oblivion.

Then it rained.

Sitting in the Grass

I cultivate a nice sunburn on my shoulders to go along with my legs. Yes, I was warned to wear sunscreen, so don't think this is a call for pity. I'm just a noob.
We got to a fresh water stream with a swimming hole surrounded by cliffs. You can do huge jumps into and off a waterfall. I do the smaller jumps because I've got a killer headache and think I might pass out if I hit the water to hard. On reflection I probably got the headache from the skit the night before.
Suffice to say at this point my body is feeling pretty battered and bruised from all the activities. I don't remember it being that hard. I guess I'm getting old.

Ill continue what happened in this day and the next in my next post as soon as I draw it tonight.

An Actual Doodle

Me and Zara perform a wicked cool skit I brain stormed. Some of my hair gets hacked off and I end the scene by faceplanting into the ground. I pretend I hurt my leg for the skit but I should have just gone with the pain in my forehead. Suffice to say we winged all the lines. Ill put a video up of it at some point.
In teams we create bamboo vehicles that we eventually race down a hill. Ours breaks half way down, I allow our kids to dismember it.
We end in a rewards ceremony where I managed to get a reward for dancing the day before at the leader hunt challenge. Probably the only reward Ill ever get for dancing. I'm happy.

Gorilla man

We do a leader hunt on the beach where different leaders are disguised as beach goers. teams had to run up and down the beach finding them and collecting puzzle pieces. They had a key word that they had to say to the leaders. "I like to move it move it" can be rather dodgy when spoken to complete strangers by mistake. One leader dressed as a gorrilla and hid up a tree. This caused panic in a neighbour who was about to call the police and tell them that a real life gorilla was chilling out in a tree by the beach. True story.
two other leaders dressed as council workers and bummed around behind a toilet block. A lady scoped them out the entire time they were there thinking that they might be up to something dodgy since they didn't seem to be doing anything in particular. After the games finished an actual council worker came along and started doing something to the toilets.

Fun In The Sun

The kids arrived and we set about getting everyone settled in. I only had two kids to keep an eye on until we went together as a full group. 2 boys, 6 girls, one guy leader (Me), and two chick leaders (Neither of them were me.)
By the end of the day I had successfully managed to burn the tops of my feet in the sun. Showers taken post burning look a lot like the river dance.

Coopers Beach 2011

Can I just start with a note about the comment on the last post... Wtf. I think I'll leave it there for the pure wtf of it all.

We left on Wednesday towards Coopers beach camp. Its North. Not up or down. Compass directions don't cover elevations. So it is indeed possible to travel down to the northern most point of the country if you happen to live on a particularly high part of the country. Random thought there, might need some work but I think it works.

Cats with bad breath

Its a little known fact that a cats cute nature is completely outwayed by its fetid breath. Remember kids, you can't smell the internet! But if it did smell, it would smell of cats and other sorts of cats.

I'll be at my annual kids camp for the next couple days. So expect nothing till Tuesday when I do a big image dump of my doodles.

Till then I want you to be good, enjoy life, and groove to a bit of nz music. And it's free to! So you can be a cheap ass and a patriot at the same time!

Autographs are so oldschool.

Cleaning Toilets

This happened to me yesterday. It makes cleaning the toilet feel so pointless. Although it is reassuring to know that when you get "Splash damage" its only toilet duck.

Broken friends & Chicks

There comes a stage where you start coming across things from your past. It starts happening when you have a bit of past to actually run into. You see friends whom last you saw had squeaky voices and no facial hair. It can be kinda fun seeing what sort of monstrosity they turn into. What jobs they have etc.
The flipside to all this are the friends who didn't quite make it out of the minefield of kidulthood unscathed. Unfortunatly the wounds sustained are sometimes of the variety that will never be healed.
The debt of decisions is tallied, and a price is payed.. Moving on.

If you don't dig naked chicks, or your not in the mood to get fired for looking at artistic nudity you may want to give this a miss. To be honest I've tried making it as PG as possible. My style has improved by leaps and bounds in comparison to my first efforts. It's awesome to compare.
"Izak, Whats up with the whole bikini thing?"
Good question. CLOTHES ARE HARD in this style. Maybe in the next one everyone will be all bundled up. But If the weather we're experiencing at the moment is anything to go by at the moment I would say that what they are wearing now would become normal attire for everyday activities.

Something on a cliff

Originally it was going to be saying something about having "all the time in the world to get to knowing each other, but for now just getting to know the beautiful view." and the guy being all impatient and sad about wanting to get to knowing her as soon as possible. Something cute anyway. And yes, I do have a "thing" for cliffs.
I watched Scott Pilgrim again today. It's still awesome. Easily the best movie of twenty ten. Hmm, I wasn't going to do it. But here's my tops for last year.

Best Band: Beirut. These guys came out of nowhere for me. Scenic World has been thrashed in our jamming sessions far to much.
Best Movie: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. I've raved about this movie a lot. I feel as though the comic and movie was made just for me and people like me. The way I would feel about Waynes World if I grew up as a teenager in the early 90s.
Best Game: I'm not sure if I should mention Minecraft. As it is far from being a finished game, but its about the only game I remember playing last year apart from Tetris and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Best Day: 8th October
Best Slave: Your mum.

Day 6

This ones based on a sketch based on a sketch I did a couple days ago based on a Lady Gaga video based on someones fetish.

Matthius, Destroyer of dreams

Only 16 minutes late, but who's counting? Matthius, the destroyer of dreams probably is. That bastard always waking me up right in the middle of a good bit. Have you noticed that? It's always a really interesting part of a dream where you wake up.. But then again, dreams are rarely boring so every bits a good bit. See you sometime in the next 23 hours or so.

Chazz Valentine

If you have no intention of reading this post please highlight the white space at the end of the last sentence.
Drawn while listening to Chazz Valentines "The Brightest Star" (Woo, support NZ music,) painted with watercolours so it might actually be interesting in some small way.
I managed to coax a few of my friends to get into the doodle a day business. Wish them luck. I swear the number of blogs that are sprouting lately is insane. People normally laugh in my face and throw their left over food at me when I try and tell them about blogs. Ah well. They say that blogging is dead, but if thats the case then there are a lot of undead wandering around. So you BETTER WATCH YOURSELF, you nay saying bastards. Blogs will eat your brains and taste for decent literature.
While I'm thinking about it. Twitter, facebook, the internet in general and all those "failblog" type things which are the latest incarnations of blogging have really killed extended writing. If you got this far into my post I'm genuinely impressed. And fuck all you TL;DR types! Yeah thats right. All us big kids that don't have minute and a half attention spans have been talking about you.

Hairy Pooper

This is my opinion on Harry Potter. I've seen all but the latest half movie. Haven't read the books. That is my Potter status, and its probably how it will remain forever and always. Not because I hate Harry Potter or have anything against the chappy. Life is just to short to read those books. Yes I feel extremely clever for coming up with that title

Beard guy

Its a brilliant sunny sunday day! Woa. Thats cool. can you see the thing with the first sentence there? That's pretty rad...
Anyway, yeah, go outside, get burnt, read a book, find some sweet graff and enjoy life.
Beard Guy is a signature character of Vanilla Fictions, we're doing a little character trade as a bit of fun.
Hendersons had a rash of new stickers. They look pretty slick. Although not quite as exciting to find as a hand drawn slap. Know what I mean? Stickers that are hand drawn have this "limited edition" feel to them.
