Turning 21

 Woot! My lifelong dream of being able to drink in America has finally become slightly more of a reality! But seriously. I still have the mind of a 17 year old with a 21 year old birth certificate, and that in itself is a scary thought. Life is marching on, and the more it does, the more tragic my hobbies become. But don't let these morbid reflections let you think I had a horrible 15th of September 2010. It was a great day of normal everyday life. I think my sweet playlist had something to do with it though (see video).

Oh thank you for reminding me, bracket! I got a video camera. A nice sexy 80gig whatsit with a touch screen and massive thingimajig... The other day I had to explain what a "thingimajig" was. It's rather hard because I mostly came up with other words like "whosAmaCallIt" & "WhasitCalleds".
Sadly the Camera has a larger harddrive in it than my biggest harddrive on my computer. I'm playing a game of "Which games do I put on and which walk the plank."

Trolling K road

I'm not in town to often. But when I am I usually spend a lot of my time trying to make myself look like a tourist of dirty power boxes and grotty signs. I got a ton of photos of all the latest stickers. Also found a sweet art gallery. Apparently their new site got launched last night. So if you ever get the chance check out Rebel Yell Gallery sometime.
Dang it. Now I'm gonna have to go back into aux cause I didn't get photos of what I actually went in there for. We have to design a guide booklet. Oh well.
Yesterday I started on my flash project. I forgot how much I loved that program. Hopefully in a couple of weeks you'l be able to enjoy the fruits of my labour. Platform game anyone?

Hallelujah I'm a Bum

I found this record at Grandmas today. I was digging through her old vinyls checking out the cover art. A lot of the Moog ones seem to have been ripped off completely and can be seen on kids shirts. It's sad that they won't even know what I'm talking about when I mention Moog. Sigh. It's a hard life being cool and being able to namedrop old stuff no one thinks about anymore.
I handed in my final illustrations on friday. The picture below is the half completed colour final. While the one below that is actually just something I did for fun. I was walking into uni when I found this sweet bit of wood that looked as though it had been ripped off a white kitchen cabinet or something. So I yoinked it and just slapped paint on, and then put a paste up on it. Looks very preschool.

He needs a name.

Street Arse

You may recall my last Graff day where I took a bunch of sweet pics on Railside Ave. Well you can now see them all plus a few extras over on Street Arse now. Awesome Site full of good ol' Kiwi vandalism. It has my seal of approval. It feels good to contribute to an archive of New Zealand street art.
We must remember that graff is an ephemeral art form, and in a couple months the pieces we walk past everyday on our way to work will soon disappear or be covered by a new one, and the photo's we take will be the only lasting memory that they ever existed.

Also you should totally help out Hanna and her fundraising efforts!

Final half, Start!

My two week break is up sadly. It feels like a lifetime since I was last at uni... I probably should have taken that lifetime to get my final illustration finished =S. Oh well. She'll understand when I tell her I had to desperately finish this paper-craft figure of Ramona from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

In summary of what I have accomplished over the two week break.

Got a job managing a website.

Did a bunch of oldschool game inspired comics.

Went up north.

Wrote a shitty song. 

Brushed my teeth.

Also been taking photos of more stickers here abouts. I've read about this particular phenomenon before but it has never struck me as much as it has in this picture. It's the idea that street art changes its meaning over time, or is enhanced by the space. So this sticker was originally of a little sad thing. Now it's sadness is enhanced by what the weather has done to it (as well as what appears to be someone scratching at it), making it look abandoned and lonely. I think that's all very cool.
